New Delhi: Onion prices are continuously increasing, which is causing problems for consumers. Keeping this in view, the Central Consumer Affairs along with the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution has taken some important decisions so that consumers can get relief.
To curb the rising prices of onion, the export of onion has been banned. Onion is being supplied from the buffer stock. Import rules have also been relaxed by the central government. With this step of the government, onion prices will be reduced and the availability of onion will also increase. Onion is being sold at Rs 50 per kg in Delhi, Rs 67 per kg in Mumbai, Rs 65 per kg in Kolkata.

Onion is being sold in Chennai for Rs 74 per kg. There has been a lot of rain in South and West India, due to which the supply has been interrupted.
Maharashtra is the largest onion producing state in India, where onion is being sold at Rs 66 per kg in Nashik. Due to heavy rains in South and West India, the Kharif crop has been affected. The government is taking all possible steps to control the rising prices of onions.
