New Delhi: Emphasizing that there would no harm to anyone's citizenship on account of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), BJP Rajya Sabha MP Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday said the opposition political parties were inciting people on the issue for their vote bank politics.
"The unrest in the country over the issue of CAA is sponsored by opposition parties. The Congress, the Left and the Samajwadi Party were misleading people on the matter and it was being done purely for political reasons," he told ETV Bharat here.

The BJP leader also expressed unhappiness over the approach of the opposition parties on the issue, and said "country should come first for all, but they have forgotten it".
He also clarified that the CAA is for granting citizenship to the oppressed and religiously persecuted non-Muslims in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, while the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is for identifying non-Indians living illegally in India.
"The two should not be seen together. They are two different things and non-Indian should be worried on either of the front," Shukla asserted, adding that the country would always be run on the basis of the constitution.
"The government is explaining it to people. They understand it also but opposition parties don't," he said.
On former BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar getting life term in jail in a rape case, Shukla said the court must have arrived at the decision after examining every aspect of the case.
He said the court's decision was right.
