New Delhi: The JD(U) on Friday stressed that incumbent chief minister Nitish Kumar remains its top choice for a chief ministerial candidate for next state assembly elections.
Speaking to the ETV Bharat here, Bihar minister and senior JD(U) leader Jai Kumar Singh said his party considers deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi as part of the top BJP leadership and his word that Nitish Kumar would be the next chief ministerial candidate is final for us.
He was reacting to the on-going controversy on the issue wherein BJP leaders recently mentioned that Sushil Kumar Modi had no authority on issues like these and only the "top leadership of the party would decide who would the one".
"Twelve crore people of Bihar have chosen Nitish Kumar as their leader. The state has progressed well under his leadership and his candidature for the post is final for us," he told the ETV Bharat.
Senior BJP functionary and Rajya Sabha member C P Thakur and party MLC Sachidanand Rai have made statements against the declaration by Sushil Kumar Modi, saying the issue would be handled by the "top leadership of the party".
