Net infiltration in J-K down by 43%: MHA in Lok Sabha

MoS for Home has informed Lok Sabha that the net cross-border infiltration in J&K has reduced by 43 per cent. It also mentioned that the electric fence on the LoC along the Indo-Pak border has proved to be a potent tool to guard against infiltration.

Net infiltration in J&K down by 43 per cent: MHA in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: The Union government on Tuesday informed Lok Sabha that it has adopted zero tolerance towards cross-border infiltration and the net cross-border infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir has reduced by 43 per cent in 2019 as compared to the previous years.

Replying to a question about steps being taken by the government to check terrorism in J&K, Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said that terrorist-initiated incident saw a decline of 28 per cent, net infiltration reduced by 43% and local recruitment declined by 40 per cent, whereas neutralization of terrorist has increased by 22 per cent.

In reply to another question, MoS for Home Nityanand Rai said that the government of India in tandem with the state government, has adopted a multi-pronged approach to contain cross-border infiltration, which inter-alia include multitiered deployment along the LoC, border fencing, improved intelligence and operational coordination, equipping security forces with improved technological weapons and taking proactive action against infiltrators.

When asked about the electric fencing on Indo-Pak border, MoS Home Nityanand Rai said that the electric fence namely the Anti Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS) on the LoC along the Indo-Pak border has proved to be a potent tool to guard against infiltration.
