Muslims in country had accepted SC's verdict: Imam Bukhari

The Shahi Imam of the Jama Masjid in Delhi, Syed Ahmed Bukhari said that they accept the court's order and Muslims of India want peace in the country. Muslims to be given an alternate land in Ayodhya, a five-judge Constitution bench, led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said, in its landmark judgement.

New Delhi: While addressing a press conference in the national capital after the Supreme Court's verdict on Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute, the Shahi Imam of the Jama Masjid in Delhi, Syed Ahmed Bukhari said that they accept the court's order and Muslims of India want peace in the country.

"We accept the Supreme Court's order, Muslims of India want peace in the country. Before the court's order, all Muslims had said that they would accept the court's order, whatever it may be,"

In a historic verdict, the Supreme Court by a unanimous judgement ruled in favour of the Hindu who sought to build a Ram temple at the disputed site as birthplace of Lord Ram.

Muslims to be given an alternate land in Ayodhya, a five-judge Constitution bench, led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said, in its landmark judgement.

The apex court said that the mosque should be constructed at a "prominent site," allotted either by the Centre or the Uttar Pradesh government, and a trust should be formed within three months for the construction of the temple at the site many Hindu believe Lord Ram was born.
