During lockdown, we all are spending more time online. Avoid falling prey to Cyber-Crimes. How ? Mr. S Harinath, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Telangana, Hyderabad is suggesting some preventive measures.
- In order to download the utility apps/e-wallets, you search for them on popular search engines. 99% hackers are sitting on these search engines. So, What you do? Search for the original websites.
- These original websites generally do not show on the top. Scroll down. They appear on the 15th/16th number. They may even appear on the 2nd/3rd page.
- Mr Harinath also suggests that the original website starts with https//www……… The websites not starting with hhtps/www may not be secure.
- Now when the hackers call on behalf of the popular e-wallets which you may download for use, they may say that your KYC (know your customer) is being made, Do not share any of your vital information. Be very Careful..!!!
- Mr . Harinath recommends that these apps you can install and uninstall any number of times yourself. Never ever share the information to a third person who claims to be calling you from any of the popular apps. However, while installing the apps, you would share the required information online as asked for.
- Always Remember one thing, use only the toll free numbers starting with 1800-*-** which is a 11 digit Number.! All the other numbers, most of the times are fake(CYBER FRAUDSTERS) and you may get cheated.
Mr Harinath very strongly feels that for banking transactions of any kinds, make time to go to the bank directly. One should remember, no bank will call you to provide services without our requisition. Even as small as a cheque book, better go to the bank get it. So be aware and do not entertain fake calls from the banks. These are some of the small things, if you keep in mind, you can avoid big cyber-crimes.
