Modi to give away prizes to winning teams of Singapore-India Hackathan

The second edition of Singapore-India Hackathan being held in Chennai later this month would have Prime Minister Narendra Modi as chief guest at the award distributing ceremony. The first edition of the programme, initiated by Modi, was held in Singapore last year.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give away prizes to winners of the Singapore-India Hackathan being organised in Chennai later this month.

Singapore-India Hackathan is the first of its kind joint international programme between India and Singapore. It's first edition was held in Singapore in November last year, an official statement issued here said.

It would be a non-stop, fast paced 36-hour hackathon where students would come up with creative and innovative solutions, it added.

There would be 20 teams participating and each team would have three students from India and as many from Singapore. The most innovative teams would get cash rewards, it said.

Intro:India Singapore Hackathon grand finale will be held at IIT Madras from 28th of September to 29th of September this year. The 36 hour long hackathon will witness the participation of 120 students divided into 20 teams. Each team will constitute of 3 students from Singapore and 3 from India.
The participants will work in 3 problem areas and 5 problem statements which includes issues like health, education and environment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting IIT Madras as the chief guest at the award ceremony of India Singapore Hackathon. Education Minister of Singapore will also be present on the occasion.


Body:This will be the 2nd edition of India Singapore Hackathon being organised by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, All India Council for Technical Education along with the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and NTUitive Pte Ltd.
