New Delhi: In a historic judgment, the Supreme Court has ordered the Centre to ensure that women officers are given a permanent commission (PC) in the Army, while adding that the officers will be now eligible for command posting.
The SC slammed the Centre by stating that not giving permanent commission to women officers is disturbing and cannot be accepted.
Reacting to this, BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi has welcomed Supreme's Court decision. Calling it a dream for our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lekhi said that the Centre Government has always worked for women empowerment. Women are working at par with men at every post in the Army. Then why they should not be given a permanent place? Our Government has also welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court.

Lekhi said that after the decision of SC, all the difficulties of the Government will be removed and the process for working in the field of woman empowerment will be smooth.
