Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh): The Manimahesh Yatra in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh has been suspended as the bridge connecting Hudsar to Bharmour was washed away following heavy rains in the region.
According to official sources, the bridge near Bharngala Nala is the only route to Manimahesh. "Efforts are being made to restore the bridge. Till then the yatra has been suspended," Kangra SP Vimukt Ranjan had said.
He further advised the pilgrims not to proceed towards either Chamba or Manimahesh, until the clearance is issued from the concerned authorities.
Manimahesh Lake is situated 26 km from Bharmour in Budhil valley and is considered an important pilgrimage spot in Himachal Pradesh. The lake is situated at an altitude of 13,000 feet.
Every year during August - September thousands of pilgrims flock the lake to take a dip in the water body.
