Maharashtra: Govt's STEPapp for tribal students' education enhancement

In an attempt to enhance the online education of tribal students, STEPapp has been launched to improve the quality of virtual education. With the help of this application, students can learn various subjects in a fun manner.

Nandurbar: With India still struggling to provide quality online education to tribal students amid the corona-induced lockdown, government and private organisations are continuously making efforts to ease their burden.

In the absence of the proper digital facilities, a group of Information Technology (IT) and educational experts have designed learning Ed-Tech app, Stepapp to provide universal access to quality education to tribal students. Students can learn Mathematics, Science and languages with STEPAPP which is very enjoyable and encouraging.

Made with an intent to improve the quality of education, the new tech app aims to create a bunch of meritorious students for the country removing social and economic hurdles.

The app works on all basic smartphones with minimum data requirements and the price is easily affordable. Designed by Praveen Tyagi, students will have a wide range of options to understand various concepts and will understand tricky things easily.

Asked about how many students can access the app, Pradeep Tyagi said, "Tribal students from 21 states across the nation can use STEPapp to enhance their learning process. The tribal department of Maharashtra did a pilot survey in Eklavya Model Residential Schools and it yielded tremendous efforts. Students from remote tribal areas like Nandurbar also gave warm feedback."

"Our purpose is to empower the students through this application. STEPapp is an attempt to provide quality education who still lag behind in the virtual education mode by leveraging gamified learning, story-telling, scholarships and benefits," Tyagi added.

Explaining the uniqueness of the app, CEO Tyagi, said, "The STEPapp can be accessed by every child in the country, anytime and anywhere. It engages parents, students and makes sure that students achieve their full potential. it is accessible, affordable, adaptive and attractive for those who want to build their own future. STEPapp's board syllabus is mapped to the curriculum of school boards such as ICSE and CBSE.

With the help of STEPapp, students can clear their concepts in a funny manner and their speed and accuracy are gauged. Parents and teachers get detailed reports of the student's progress, strengths and weaknesses via SMS and email on a real-time basis.

STEPapp starts with building math and science proficiency via two programs - STEP Scholar and STEP Learn. In addition to the big scholarships, students can also win next grade's STEP Learn the free basis for their performance.

STEP Learn is the learning program for grades five to 11 mapped to complete math and science syllabus of CBSE and ICSE. It breaks down tough concepts into easy to understand capsules and then tests the children on their learning - in a gamified format.
