Lothal Maritime Museum: The Original Idea was that of Narendra Modi

When Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, 16 years back, he had expressed the desire to build a maritime museum at the Lothal, the well known Harappan site in the state of Gujarat.

This year the union budget of 2020-21 had fulfilled that dream and the finance minister has announced to construct the maritime museum at Lothal, near Ahmedabad.

16 years ago in a programme Narendra Modi has expressed the idea that there should be a maritime museum at Lothal.

On 13th December 2003, on the occasion of dedicating the Mundra-Aadipur rail link in the district of the Kutch, than chief minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi, while interacting with the media, had talked about having a maritime museum at Lothal.

At the time Railway minister was Nitish Kumar and he was present at the occasion. Nitish Kumar who is now the chief minister of Bihar, had at that time also talked about the possibilities of developing ports in Gujarat.

At the time ETV was the most popular channel in the Gujarat and channel had carried that news (in the evening news bulletine on 13th December, 2003) and statement of Narendra Modi regarding the maritime museum at Lothal, the dream which will finally be fulfilled after these long years.
