Shivraj urges people to vote for 'Atmanirbhar' Madhya Pradesh
Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan urged the voters to step out and vote for a government that can fulfil their aspirations as bye-elections are being held on 28 seats in Madhya Pradesh following the resignation of 25 MLAs and the death of three legislators.
"Voting is the soul of democracy, it strengthens democracy. All of you must vote to choose the government that can fulfil your aspirations. Step out and vote. Let's make an 'Atmanirbhar' Madhya Pradesh," CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
Arrangements were made for thermal screening and sanitisation was done at the polling station for the by-polls during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Free masks were also distributed to the voters by the local administration in Indore's Sanwer constituency.
Counting of votes will be held on November 10.

As the voting started at a sluggish pace at 28 poll-bound constituencies in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, several public violence were recorded at different polling booths in Madhya Pradesh's Morena.
SP Morena, Anurag Sujaniya said, "We got reports of violence at few places away from polling booths. These incidents haven't affected polling. We're probing videos of firing and have arrested few people in one such firing incident."

11.50 pc voter turnout till 10 am
A total of 11.50 per cent voters exercised their franchise till 10 am on Tuesday for by-polls to 28 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, an election official said.
Polling began at 7 am with COVID-19 prevention protocols in place and will continue till 6 pm, he said.
"A total of 11.50 per cent voters cast their votes till 10 am in the state's 19 districts where polling is going on," the official said.
"No glitches were reported from anywhere during mock polling conducted before the beginning of voting," he said.
The last hour of voting will be for COVID-19 patients and people suspected to be carrying the respiratory disease, he said.
A total of 355 candidates, including 12 ministers, were in the fray.
Constituency-wise polling till 10 am was - Agar 11.34 per cent, Ambah 9.24 per cent, Anuppur 6.0 per cent, Ashok Nagar 8.91 per cent, Badnawar 17.47 per cent, Bamori 14.18 per cent, Bhander 8.4 per cent, Biora 14.08 per cent, Dabra 12.57 per cent, Dimani 11.25 per cent, Gohad 11.2 per cent, Gwalior 14.48 per cent, Gwalior-East 6.06 per cent, Hatpipalya 12.75 per cent, Jaura 7.5 per cent and Karera 12.58 per cent.
Besides, Bada Malhara recorded 11.35 per cent voting till 10 am, Mandhata 9.61 per cent, Mehgaon 10.69 per cent, Morena 8.0 per cent, Mungaoli 12.27 per cent, Nepanagar 11.52 per cent, Pohari 14.51 per cent, Sanchi 10.25 per cent, Sanwer 15.3 per cent, Sumaoli 13.0 per cent, Surkhi 13.44 per cent, Suwasra 13.69 per cent, the official said.

Voting for by-polls in 28 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh began on Tuesday morning, an official said.
Polling began at 7 am and will end at 6 pm while adhering to the COVID-19 restrictions, the official said.
The last hour of voting will be for COVID-19 patients and people suspected to be suffering from the disease. Authorities have set up 250 flying squads, 173 surveillance teams and 293 police check-posts to ensure smooth polling, he said
Altogether 355 candidates, including 12 ministers, are in the fray, the official said, adding around 33,000 security personnel have been deployed in 19 districts.
There are 63.67 lakh voters in the 28 constituencies and 9361 polling booths, including 3038 booths placed under the critical category, he said.

Bhopal: Voting for 28 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh by-polls will take place today and the results will be declared on November 10.
By-elections were necessitated after 22 MLAs from former Congress government joined the BJP in March 2020, under the leadership of Jyotiraditya Scindia causing the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government to fall.
Soon, three other Congress MLAs joined the BJP which increased the tally to 25. The remaining three seats are vacant due to the death of incumbent MLAs paving the way for BJP's Shivraj Singh Chouhan to take over as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister for the fourth time.
