Kolkata (West Bengal): Personnel of battalion of Calcutta Armed Police staged a protest over unhygienic conditions at a quarantine Centre in Salt Lake's AF block on Friday night. Cops even stone pelted at the policemen of Bidhannagar Police Station who arrived at the spot to pacify the situation.
Police headquarters of Calcutta Armed Police has been allocated as a quarantine Centre for the cops who develop mild symptoms of the virus or are infected with the same.
Police personnel alleged that they are not given proper medical attention and campus was not sanitised regularly. They said that there are inadequate facilities here and it lacks hygiene. A video of the purported incident showed that cops hurled stones at the Bidhannagar police force and ransacked barricades.
Another video also showed that bricks were thrown from inside the headquarters.
Agitated cops also alleged that were kept inside the compound with some infected coronavirus contacts which has added to their troubles. However, cops at the spot said that there is a panic among the police personnel due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation.
