Kishan Reddy calls for concerted efforts by BIMSTEC countries to fight against drug trafficking

Minister of State for Home Kishan Reddy at the valedictory session of BIMSTEC countries said that the menace of drug trafficking can be controlled only by the concerted efforts of the BIMSTEC countries by sharing the experience and information. He called for concerted efforts to fight against the menace of drug trafficking.

Kishan Reddy calls for concerted efforts by BIMSTEC countries to fight against drug trafficking

New Delhi: Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Friday called for a concerted efforts to fight against the menace of drug trafficking.

Addressing the valedictory session of BIMSTEC countries here in New Delhi, Reddy said that the menace of drug trafficking can be controlled only by the concerted efforts of the affected nations by sharing the experience and information.

He said that this multidimensional menace can be tackled by comprehensive attack and strategy with joint and coordinated approach. He expressed hope that over the past two days this conference have discussed many important facts and issues in detail while focusing the emerging challenges.

Talking about the steps taken by the government, Reddy said that Centre has laid down a well thought out strategy to increase coordination among the agencies of the centre as well as state.

He said that home ministry has established a joint coordination committee to increase surveillance of a drug trafficking. He said that India is committed to combat drug trafficking through greater regional cooperation.

The Minister said that the drug trafficking menace is common to all the nations of the world as it has the capacity to destabilize the economics. He said, the issues of terrorism and drug trafficking have increased manifold through the maritime route.
