Priyanka congratulates Hemant Soren, accuses BJP of trying to hide failures in Jharkhand

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday congratulated allies of grand alliance in Jharkhand for victory in the assembly polls and alleged the BJP had sought to hide its failure but the people had given their verdict.

"People want to listen from the government on issues of employment, bread, water, jungle, land, agriculture and trade. But the BJP tried to create divisions to hide its failures. Today the reply of the people has come. Congratulations to all allies of the grand alliance. Congratulations to Hemant Soren. Congratulations and affections to Congress workers," Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday congratulated party's allies in JMM-led alliance and workers for their victory in the Jharkhand assembly polls.

"Congratulations to our allies, workers, and leaders for the decisive victory of our alliance in Jharkhand," said Gandhi in a tweet.

The alliance comprising Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress, and Rashtriya Janata Dal is poised for victory in the assembly polls.

Punjab CM, Capt Amarinder hails Jharkhand poll results as 'rejection of BJP's divisive politics'

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday hailed the Congress-JMM-RJD victory in the Jharkhand Assembly polls as a rejection of the divisive politics of the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP).

Welcoming the election results, the Chief Minister said the reversal of the ruling BJP’s fortunes, which had begun earlier this year, has taken another leap forward with these polls. The results had resoundingly crushed BJP’s ambitions of spreading its tentacles across the length and breadth of the country, and paved the way for the creation of a BJP-Mukta Bharat, he added.

With these results, BJP’s divisive agenda had not only been exposed but had also been rejected outright by the people, said Captain Amarinder, adding that the mandate marked the defeat of the ruling party’s communal politics.

Coming at a time when a strong anti-BJP wave was sweeping the nation, as manifest in the widespread public protests against the unconstitutional CAA and NRC of the central government, the Jharkhand results validate the Congress party’s secular agenda, said the Chief Minister.

Jharkhand results are verdict against CAA, NRC: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Hemant Soren, opposition alliance face in Jharkhand as the assembly election results showed them leading in the trend, saying the state seems to have given a verdict against the CAA and NRC.

Speaking to the media, Kejriwal congratulated the executive president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and said the arrogance can be seen in BJP across the nation.

"People want to vote in the name of work. It is obvious that they have not done any work. Also, people have seemed to have given their verdict against the CAA and the NRC and the arrogance of the BJP," Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal said in the last two phases of the elections, the revolt of the people against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was visible, while the BJP leaders had praised it during their rallies in the state.

"This shows that the state has shown that they don't want this in their state," Kejirwal said referring to CAA and NRC.

Soren thanks people of Jharkhand for mandate

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren has dedicated his victory to the people of the state. After it became clear that the BJP has lost the elections and the JMM-Cong-RJD alliance hit the majority mark in the 81-member Assembly, Soren held a press conference here on Monday and thanked alliance partners for reposing faith in the JMM.

"I thank Guruji (his father Shibu Soren), Lalu ji and Sonia ji, Rahul ji, Priyanka ji, and all central leaders who reposed trust on me," Soren said.

He said, a new chapter has started and it will be a milestone for the state.

Soren said all the promises made to the people will be fulfilled by his government.

"We will sit with the alliance partners and decide the next course of action," Soren said.

Congress-JMM alliance has got the majority in Jharkhand as per the latest trends, though results for all the seats have not been announced.

Soren was declared a chief ministerial candidate by the Congress and the RJD in a pre-poll alliance in Jharkhand.

Chief Minister and BJP candidate from Jamshedpur East, Raghubar Das, in a press conference said, ''I accept my debacle. I also respect the people's mandate."

However, he said that he's hopeful about the results which will be in BJP's favour.

"I am waiting for the final results. BJP will accept the people's mandate," Das said.

The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance are projected to form the government in the state.

Das said he respected the mandate even as the counting of votes in the 81 seats of the Assembly was underway. The JMM-Congress-RJD was leading in 46 seats, while the BJP was ahead in 25.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was seen leading in 30 seats around 6 p.m. -- becoming the largest single party in the state.

Das said after the mandate received in the last elections in 2014, he had tried his best to carry out development in the state and served the people with complete dedication.

According to the trends at 6 p.m., Raghubar Das is trailing in his constituency Jamshedpur (East). But he said he was certain of his victory as many rounds of counting still remained.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday said that he was satisfied with the recent trends of Jharkhand assembly polls indicating the victory of Congress+. Azad asserted that the poll results will be against the BJP as they have tried to mislead the people for the past six years.

The BJP which had a fallout with its ally AJSU and LJP faces the combination of Congress - JMM - RJD.

As the initial trends emerge from the counting of votes for the 81 Jharkhand assembly seats, Congress spokesperson Pranav Jha said that the people of the state wanted to get rid of the BJP-led government.

"There were several issues including Adivasis' issues and land being snatched away from them. People wanted to get rid of this government and find a new one. We can see that in the initial trends," Mr Jha said.

He also indicated that the Congress party is willing to forge an alliance to keep the BJP out of power in Jharkhand.

Jharkhand assembly poll result: Who said what?

Hyderabad: The final results for the 81 Assembly Constituencies in Jharkhand are set to be announced today, and the early trends show a stiff competition between Congress- Jharkhand Mukti Morcha combine and Bharatiya Janta Party.

The five-phase polling in the state commenced on November 30 and ended on December 20.

Of total 1,216 candidates contesting the Assembly polls, a total of 293 (around 24 per cent) are crorepatis.

As per Association for Democratic Reforms, 5 per cent of the total candidates (65) own assets worth Rs 5 crore or over, while 8 per cent (102) have properties worth Rs 2-5 crore.

Over 25 per cent candidates own assets worth Rs 50 lakh-Rs 2 crore, while 33 per cent have assets in the range of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50 lakh. Around 29 per cent of the candidates have properties worth less than Rs 10 lakh.

Punjab CM, Capt Amarinder hails Jharkhand poll results as 'rejection of BJP's divisive politics'

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday hailed the Congress-JMM-RJD victory in the Jharkhand Assembly polls as a rejection of the divisive politics of the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP).

Welcoming the election results, the Chief Minister said the reversal of the ruling BJP’s fortunes, which had begun earlier this year, has taken another leap forward with these polls. The results had resoundingly crushed BJP’s ambitions of spreading its tentacles across the length and breadth of the country, and paved the way for the creation of a BJP-Mukta Bharat, he added.

With these results, BJP’s divisive agenda had not only been exposed but had also been rejected outright by the people, said Captain Amarinder, adding that the mandate marked the defeat of the ruling party’s communal politics.

Coming at a time when a strong anti-BJP wave was sweeping the nation, as manifest in the widespread public protests against the unconstitutional CAA and NRC of the central government, the Jharkhand results validate the Congress party’s secular agenda, said the Chief Minister.

Jharkhand results are verdict against CAA, NRC: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Hemant Soren, opposition alliance face in Jharkhand as the assembly election results showed them leading in the trend, saying the state seems to have given a verdict against the CAA and NRC.

Speaking to the media, Kejriwal congratulated the executive president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and said the arrogance can be seen in BJP across the nation.

"People want to vote in the name of work. It is obvious that they have not done any work. Also, people have seemed to have given their verdict against the CAA and the NRC and the arrogance of the BJP," Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal said in the last two phases of the elections, the revolt of the people against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was visible, while the BJP leaders had praised it during their rallies in the state.

"This shows that the state has shown that they don't want this in their state," Kejirwal said referring to CAA and NRC.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren has dedicated his victory to the people of the state. After it became clear that the BJP has lost the elections and the JMM-Cong-RJD alliance hit the majority mark in the 81-member Assembly, Soren held a press conference here on Monday and thanked alliance partners for reposing faith in the JMM.

"I thank Guruji (his father Shibu Soren), Lalu ji and Sonia ji, Rahul ji, Priyanka ji, and all central leaders who reposed trust on me," Soren said.

He said, a new chapter has started and it will be a milestone for the state.

Soren said all the promises made to the people will be fulfilled by his government.

"We will sit with the alliance partners and decide the next course of action," Soren said.

Congress-JMM alliance has got the majority in Jharkhand as per the latest trends, though results for all the seats have not been announced.

Soren was declared a chief ministerial candidate by the Congress and the RJD in a pre-poll alliance in Jharkhand.

Chief Minister and BJP candidate from Jamshedpur East, Raghubar Das, in a press conference said, ''I accept my debacle. I also respect the people's mandate."

However, he said that he's hopeful about the results which will be in BJP's favour.

"I am waiting for the final results. BJP will accept the people's mandate," Das said.

The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance are projected to form the government in the state.

Das said he respected the mandate even as the counting of votes in the 81 seats of the Assembly was underway. The JMM-Congress-RJD was leading in 46 seats, while the BJP was ahead in 25.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was seen leading in 30 seats around 6 p.m. -- becoming the largest single party in the state.

Das said after the mandate received in the last elections in 2014, he had tried his best to carry out development in the state and served the people with complete dedication.

According to the trends at 6 p.m., Raghubar Das is trailing in his constituency Jamshedpur (East). But he said he was certain of his victory as many rounds of counting still remained.

Jharkhand assembly poll result: Who said what?

Hyderabad: The final results for the 81 Assembly Constituencies in Jharkhand are set to be announced today, and the early trends show a stiff competition between Congress- Jharkhand Mukti Morcha combine and Bharatiya Janta Party.

The five-phase polling in the state commenced on November 30 and ended on December 20.

Of total 1,216 candidates contesting the Assembly polls, a total of 293 (around 24 per cent) are crorepatis.

As per Association for Democratic Reforms, 5 per cent of the total candidates (65) own assets worth Rs 5 crore or over, while 8 per cent (102) have properties worth Rs 2-5 crore.

Over 25 per cent candidates own assets worth Rs 50 lakh-Rs 2 crore, while 33 per cent have assets in the range of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50 lakh. Around 29 per cent of the candidates have properties worth less than Rs 10 lakh.
