Hyderabad: The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Thursday announced to introduce more regional languages in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021 engineering entrance exam.
Earlier, it was speculated that the New Education Policy would add regional languages in the JEE examinations, but with the announcement of Education Minister on Twitter, it has now been confirmed.
The Education Minister also announced on Twitter that JAB would be conducting JEE Main from now on in various regional languages of India.
"In line with the vision of #NEP2020, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) of #JEE (Main) has decided to conduct the JEE (Main) examination in more regional languages of India. The examination will also be conducted in regional languages where entry to State Engineering Colleges is decided based on an examination (conducted in regional language). State language of States who admit students based on the #JEE(Main) will also be included under this", tweeted 'Nishank'.

He also said that the resolution will have long-lasting suggestions as it will help students to understand the questions better and score higher.
The announcement comes in the middle of the significance laid by the new National Education Policy 2020 – NEP 2020, on making use of the regional languages for education at primary as well as higher education levels. Currently, the JEE Main 2020 engineering entrance exam is held only in three languages i.e. English, Hindi and Gujarati.
According to the details shared by the Educational Minister, the resolution has been made a part of the implementation of the New National Educational Policy (NEP)2020, which directs to incorporate and promote in more regional languages in the prescribed education system for the students. As the JEE Main 2020 in regional languages would help students from various states, as it is considered to be the only centralized engineering entrance test across India, he added.
