New Jan: Ahead of the budget on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended the meeting of the NDA floor leaders in Parliament, during which the JD-U -- a key ally of the BJP -- demanded the removal of 'parents detail' in the NPR exercise.
Sources said the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) has urged Modi to remove the parents' detail column in the National Population Register (NPR) form. The opposition has also stressed on the removal of an additional six columns which seeks details of parents.
Meanwhile, terming the NDA meeting as "excellent", Modi tweeted: "Had an excellent meeting with the NDA family. Our alliance represents India's diversity and dynamism. NDA has made a mark for its pro-people and good governance related development programmes that are empowering millions."
Prior to the meeting, Modi also attended the meeting of senior BJP leaders.
The principal opposition party Congress has convened a meeting of senior leaders on the NPR on February 4.
