New Delhi: JDU is a democratic party and it needs to have an ideological clarity to move ahead, said the party' s national spokesperson Pawan Verma.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had on Thursday slammed Verma saying he is free to go wherever he wants and slammed him for raising his concerns over the party's stand on a host of citizenship measures of the Modi government.
"He is a learned man for whom I have a lot of respect even if he may not have similar sentiments for me. But is it proper to share such things in public and not on a party forum," Kumar said earlier while speaking to reporters.
Verma said this is precisely what he had sought and added that he had great respect for Kumar. He is grateful to Kumar for all that he has done for him, he added.
Reacting on the same statement, Verma asserted that "we both do not have any personal grudges. I just want the party to have a clear ideology."
"I respect him in every way but I believe that it is not appropriate to shake hands with the BJP amid protests against CAA, NRC and NPR. It is my personal opinion," he added.
Pawan added being a democratic party that it is, it is important for JDU to have the opinion from all its members before making it the party's collective ideology."
In a recent letter that he had posted on social media, Verma had sought ideological clarity from Kumar after the party entered into an alliance with the BJP in the Delhi Assembly polls.
