Sitamarhi: Atleast one Indian worker was killed and three were injured in alleged firing by Nepal police personnel along the India-Nepal border in Bihar's Sitamarhi district on Friday, officials said. As per the information, the Nepal police fired shots to halt the on-going work of the Indian farmers in the field which triggered panic among the locals.

DG SSB Kumar Rajesh Chandra said, "At around 8:40 a.m a family was going to Nepal. They were stopped by Nepali security personnel at the border&asked to go back which triggered a verbal altercation. Nepal security personnel fired around 15 rounds,in which 3 persons were injured and one died."

"One person has been detained by Nepali security personnel & we're in talks with them so that they release him&matters don't escalate. Everything happened in Nepal, not on the Indian side," he added.

The incident reportedly happened near Janki village belonging to Sonbarsa Police station when workers were engaged in their work on Lalbandhi Jankinagar border. The deceased has been identified as Vikesh Kumar(25) who succumbed to injuries on the spot.

"Around five to six workers were working in the field when Nepal Police fired shots. They were insisting the workers to stop working," said Nageshwar Rao, father of the deceased.
