Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the inaugural address at the Conclave on 'Transformational Reforms in Higher Education under National Education Policy' on Friday. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will visit Tarn Taran on Friday to meet families of the victims of spurious liquor tragedy which has claimed 113 lives so far.

PM Modi To address conclave on National Education Policy today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the inaugural address at the Conclave on 'Transformational Reforms in Higher Education under National Education Policy' on Friday. The PM will deliver his address through video conference. The conclave is being organized by the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The conclave will have sessions discussing different aspects of higher education covered under the National Education Policy, 2020.

Army Chief to visit Lucknow central command HQ today

Chief of Army Staff, General MM Naravane is scheduled to arrive at Lucknow to visit HQ Central Command on Friday. Earlier on Thursday, the COAS visited Tezpur, the Gajraj Corps HQ. The COAS interacted with all the Corps Commanders of Eastern Command and reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness in the Eastern Theatre. The COAS was appreciative of the efforts by our soldiers in safeguarding the territorial integrity of the Nation and encouraged all ranks to keep up the high state of alertness and professionalism displayed by them.

IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert For Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alert for Odisha as another Low-Pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Friday. Light to moderate rain or thundershower likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

Punjab CM to meet hooch tragedy victims’ families in Tarn Taran

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will visit Tarn Taran on Friday to meet families of the victims of spurious liquor tragedy which has claimed 113 lives so far. Singh will be accompanied by Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta and his Chief Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar. As many as 113 people died in the hooch tragedy with the maximum 84 fatalities occurring in Tarn Taran, followed by 15 in Amritsar and 14 in Batala.

SC to hear plea regarding restoration of 4G Internet service in J&K

The Supreme Court on Friday will hear a plea filed by an NGO Foundation for Media Professionals regarding the restoration of the high-speed internet in Jammu and Kashmir. High-speed Internet service in J-K has been suspended since August last year when the Centre had announced the revocation of its special status and bifurcation of the state into two UTs -- Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
