Bengaluru (Karnataka): An IIT-Delhi postdoc exhibited the prototype of an economical odour eliminating device at the 11th Bengaluru India Nano summit in the city on Monday.
The inventor, Mohd Faraz, who is a postdoc at the prestigious IIT-Delhi, has patented the device, named 'Odor Killer'.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Faraz said the biggest benefit of the device is its compact size and cost-effectiveness.
"Usually, normal air purifiers use activated carbon cartridges, which have to be changed once every two-three months. But in my device, the cartridge need not be changed for two-three years," he said.
He added that the device has already been successful when installed at all public toilets at IIT-Delhi, claiming that once switched on, odour is eliminated within 2-3 minutes.
Faraz said that the compact size of the device allows for it to be used almost anywhere - be it rooms, public toilets or even refrigerators.
Faraz informed that the estimated cost of the device is around Rs 400-500, but once upscaled, the cost can easily be brought down to around Rs 200.
