Farooq Abdullah not beneficiary of Roshni scheme: NC

Spokesperson of National Conference Imran Nabi Dar said the party president and Member Parliament Farooq Abdullah was not a beneficiary of the Roshni Act, calling the recent news about his involvement in the scam "completely false" and added it was spread with "a malicious intent."

Srinagar: The National Conference on Tuesday said the party president and Member Parliament Farooq Abdullah was not a beneficiary of the Roshni Act, brushing aside the allegation of his involvement in the scam as "baseless."

"The news attributing to sources that Dr Farooq Abdullah is a beneficiary of the Roshni Act is completely false and is being spread with a malicious intent,” Imran Nabi Dar, party spokesman, said.

He said: "Abdullah has not availed of the Roshni Scheme for either his residence in Srinagar or Jammu and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

"The fact that they are using sources to plant this story shows that it has no legs to stand on,” Dar added.
