A video is going viral in which Bengal's BDO officer can be seen asking, "Do you want my kidney"? Officer Sriman Banerjee asked this when locals demanded ration in front of his house.

Harirampur(West Bengal): Hours after locals of South Dinajpur staged a protest demanding ration, agitated Block Development Officer(BDO) Sriman Banerjee asked, "Do you want my kidney?"

The locals of the area alleged that they were not getting ration inspite of having a ration card. In the video, locals can be seen demanding ration in front of the BDO's house, to which he asked, "Do you want my kidney"?

In the video, locals in large numbers can be seen standing in a queue waiting for their turn to get the food. Lockdown norms were flouted and no social distancing was followed.

After a while, BDO officer can be seen instructing another official to collect names and address of the locals so that ration can be delivered to them within seven days. He also requested the people to maintain silence and ensured that ration will be delivered to them.

Asked about the demonstration, irked locals said,"Earlier we went to the ration dealer to get our ration. We were told to approach the BDO for the same".

West Bengal has recorded 697 positive cases of Covid-19 with 20 deaths.
