Only Rajinikanth can bring change, say his fans

Tamil actor Rajinikanth's fans staged a demonstration in Chennai demanding that he should enter politics. It comes after the actor announced last month that he was stepping back from political ambitions on health grounds.

Chennai: Tamil actor Rajinikanth's fans turned up at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai to stage a demonstration demanding the actor's entry in politics. Rajini Makkal Mandram officials had directed the actor's supporters not to protest.

Adding vigour to the protest, Rajnikanth's famous dialogues and songs were played at the protest. They raised slogans 'come Thalaiva come', 'come and bring change.'

Rajinikanth fans from all over districts of Tamil Nadu gathered at Chennai Valluvar Kottam and requested Rajinikanth to reconsider his decision on political entry. Actor Rajinikanth had announced that he would not take the political plunge citing deterioration of his health. Several protests were witnessed after the announcement in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, one of the protestors said, "Rajinikanth has to take care of his health. There is no debate about this. But at the same time, only Rajinikanth has the ability to bring change in politics and we request him to reconsider his decision."

Another fan named Akbar Basha said, " I have been his admirer since the age of 13. All communities are waiting for Rajinikanth's political entry. He could only bring about a change, he should come. "

Meanwhile, a political analyst commented that the protest is an unnecessary stunt exhibited by his fans. They should leave Rajinikanth alone. Rajinikanth said very clearly about his move, he added.
