New Delhi: The Center of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Agricultural Workers Union (AIAWU) and All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) have announced a joint movement against the policies and measures of Modi government.

The leaders of all three organisations addressed a joint conference virtually today and stated about their plan to organise series of protests starting from the village, block and district level to a major agitation on the 9th of August.

The units of AIAWU, CITU and AIKS will be sending 20000 letters to the President of India demanding his intervention on the issues raised by them.

The nationwide campaign in the month of June mobilising workers, agriculture labourers and peasants will be based on the immediate demands raised by the left affiliated organisations and political parties.

The list of demands includes free universal healthcare for all, 10Kg of free food grains per person per month of the next six months for all, 200 days of guaranteed work under MNREGA scheme @Rs 600 per day as wages and rescinding the ordinances/executive orders on essential commodities, farm trade, electricity act and labour laws.

The leaders of the three major organisations are of the opinion that the recent amendments in essential commodities act and APMC Act via ordinances will only benefit big corporate houses and farmers will become slaves of corporates.

"Instead of taking effective measures to contain the pandemic, the BJP government is aggressively trying to centralise entire governance through authoritarian measures and fascistic intent. At the same time RSS led forces are communalizing even the Corona pandemic" said Hannan Mollah, General Secretary All India Kisan Sabha while addressing the virtual conference.

The united front of labour and farmers organisations alleged that the government is taking aggressive measures to complete the Neoliberal process taking advantage of the lockdown.

The organisations are against the ordinances brought by the government for reforms in the agriculture sector, the changes in labour laws by state governments and opening of the crucial and strategic sectors to FDI.
