CISF awarded 'Best Marching Contingent among Paramilitary Forces' at R-Day parade

The CISF was adjudged the "best marching contingent" amongst paramilitary and other auxiliary contingents during Republic Day parade, 2020 at Rajpath.

New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday said that it was adjudged the "best marching contingent" amongst paramilitary and other auxiliary contingents during Republic Day parade, 2020 at Rajpath.

This is the sixth time that Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent won the "best marching contingent" trophy at Republic Day parade, the earlier occasions being in 2007, 2008, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
The CISF contingent consisting of 148 personnel was led by Deputy Commandant Prabh Simran Singh. This year, CISF tableau was displayed after 11 years.
It has been at the forefront of recruiting women. It has the highest percentage of women (6 per cent) among all paramilitary forces — the others are yet to achieve the target of 5 per cent set by the Home Ministry.
The Central Industrial Security Force guards about 60 civil airports in the country and has an elite VVIP security wing under its command called the Special Security Group (SSG). The current strength of the CISF is about 1.8 lakh personnel.
