Agarabathi seller cracks PSI exam in Gadag

Sagar Attarwala , an agarbathi seller from Mundaragi town cracked PSI examination. He secured 173 rank in the exam without coaching and it is the first time a young man has earned the post of PSI in Mundaragi town.

Gadag (Karnataka): Sagar Attarawala, a young man from Mundaragi town who sells Agarabathi, is now become a model for the youth as he got selected to the post of the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI).

Sagar, who hails from a poor family, secured rank 173 in the PSI exam without any coaching. Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sagar said that from a very young age, he had the dream to be a police officer and to serve the people. Thus, after the completion of M.Com, he prepared for the competitive exam.

Due to financial constraints, he did not opt to spend a year on coaching. While reading, he used to keep a record of old question papers, old notes, newspapers and other reading material available in mobile. He wrote the test during the lockdown. He is really happy that he has achieved his dream.

"Our livelihood depends on making and selling agarbathi in town for daily usage. Our son sells agarbathi, but he is very bright in studies. We are poor, or else his progress would have been different. However, he struggled and cleared the PSI. We are really happy and proud of our son," said Sagar's father.

During Sagar's post-graduation in commerce, he got a scholarship for free UPSC coaching. Even though he attended coaching in Bangalore for four months, he did not take any coaching for the post of PSI. Since 2017, he wrote examinations for posts related to police departments. He had been interviewed twice. This is the first time a young man has earned the post of PSI in Mundaragi town.
