In a relaxation of sorts in health safety protocols, the Kerala government on Saturday announced new guidelines to allow the near and dear ones of COVID-19 victims to have one last look at their faces before the cremations or burials.
Health Minister KK Shailaja said only very close relatives of the dead will be allowed to see their deceased kin's faces.

Fadnavis said he was taking medication and treatment according to the advice of doctors and urged those who had come in contact with him to get tested for the virus. "I have been working every single day since the lockdown but now it seems that God wants me to stop for a while and take a break! I have tested COVID19 positive and in isolation. Pondy registers 128 fresh cases, two more deaths
Puducherry clocked 128 fresh cases of coronavirus infection on Saturday taking the overall tally to 34,112 while two people died of the disease, pushing the toll to 586.
While Puducherry region accounted for 103 fresh cases out of the total 128 new cases Karaikal had 8, Yanam eleven and Mahe had six cases.
The fresh cases were identified at the end of the examination of 3865 samples, a release from Director of Health and Family Welfare services S Mohan Kumar said.
Of the overall 34,112 Covid cases in the Union Territory 3,912 were now active, 29,614 were treated and discharged.
He said the two people who died of the infection had complaints of COVID pneumonia.
The Director noted that 187 patients were discharged from hospitals during the last 24 hours.

23 new cases take COVID-19 tally of Andamans to 4,207
Port Blair, Oct 24 (PTI) At least 23 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, raising the tally in the Union Territory to 4,207, a health department official said on Saturday.
"The death toll rose to 58 after a patient succumbed to the disease in the archipelago," he said.
"Of the fresh cases, 16 were detected during contact tracing, while seven have travel history," he said.

New Delhi: India's COVID-19 tally climbed to 78.14 lakh with 53,370 fresh cases in a day, while 70,16,046 people have so far recuperated pushing the national recovery rate to 89.78 per cent on Saturday, the Union health ministry said.
The total number of coronavirus cases mounted to 78,14,682 and the death toll to 1,17,956, with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 650 lives in a span of 24 hours in the country, the ministry data updated at 8 am on Saturday showed.
The COVID-19 case fatality rate has further declined to 1.51 per cent.
There are 6,80,680 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 8.71 per cent of the total caseload, the ministry data said.
According to ICMR, a cumulative total of 10,13,82,564 samples have been tested up to October 23, with 12,69,479 samples tested on Friday.
