New Delhi: An alive bird was found in the cockpit of Air India Express' Bahrain-Kochi flight on July 15, officials of aviation regulator DGCA said on Sunday. The bird was found in the glove compartment on co-pilot's side when the plane was at 37,000 feet altitude and the plane landed safely in Kochi, officials said. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is investigating the incident, the regulating body mentioned.
In another incident, a Dubai-bound Air India Express aircraft VT-AXX that took off from Calicut on July 16 was diverted to Muscat after reports of a burning smell emitted from one of the vents in the forward galley during cruise, the DGCA said.

On the same day, an aircraft of Ethiopian Airlines from Addis Ababa to Bangkok made an emergency landing at Kolkata airport due to an issue with pressurisation, the DGCA mentioned. On July 15, an aircraft of Srilankan airlines made an emergency landing at Chennai airport due to a hydraulic issue, they added.
The DGCA came out with these revelations hours after a Hyderabad-bound IndiGo aircraft from Sharjah was diverted to Pakistan's Karachi airport on Sunday morning. "IndiGo flight 6E-1406, operating from Sharjah to Hyderabad was diverted to Karachi. The pilot observed a technical defect. Necessary procedures were followed and as a precaution, the aircraft was diverted to Karachi," IndiGo said in a press release. (With Agency inputs)
