AIMIM chief Owaisi raises question on Asad's encounter, says not against mafia, but against encounters

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi raised questions on gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's son Asad's encounter. He said that he has always been against encounters.

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi raised questions on gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's son Asad's encounter and said, "I have never been with mafias, but have always been against encounters." Owaisi said that power should be run according to the law. He said that he disagree with the encounter.

Atiq Ahmed's son Asad was killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) team in Jhansi. The officials informed that another one of his accomplices Ghulam was also killed along with Asad. Both the deceased were wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case and were carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakhs each.

Asad was wanted in Uttar Pradesh after leading a group of shooters, who killed Umesh Pal in Prayagraj on February 24. According to the police, Asad was in contact with his father Atiq, and Uncle Ashraf in jail. His father and uncle instructed him to chalk out a plan to murder Umesh Pal. The Ahmed family had a rivalry with Umesh Pal.

Reacting to the encounter, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav claimed it was a 'fake encounter'. Taking to Twitter, Yadav wrote in Hindi, "By doing false encounters, the BJP government is trying to divert attention from the real issues. The BJP does not believe in the court at all. Today's and recent encounters should also be thoroughly investigated and the culprits should not be spared. The power does not have the right to decide what is right or wrong. BJP is against the brotherhood."
