Hyderabad: At least nine people were killed and thirteen were injured after an autorickshaw carrying 20 passengers had a head-on collision lorry in Angandipet Stage of P A Pally Mandal in Nalgonda district on Thursday. Initial investigation suggests that all the victims are daily wage labourers and were residents of Chinthalabhavi village.
The accident occurred at Angandipet Stage of P.A. Pally Mandal when the auto-rickshaw while trying to prevent hitting an SUV, collided with the container truck.
All the injured people were immediately taken to Devarakonda government hospital and it is suspected that the death toll may rise due to critical condition of the labourers.
The incident happened when the auto was heading towards Rangareddy Gudem district. Devarakonda police reached the accident spot and a case has been registered. Further investigation is underway.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed shock over the accident. He enquired with the officials about the circumstances that led to the accident.
Conveying his condolences to the families of the deceased labourers, he instructed the medical officers to give the best treatment to those injured in the accident.
