Guntur (Andhra Pradesh): Six migrant workers hailing from Odisha and Bihar were reportedly found dead at a prawn hatchery in Lankavanidibba village of Repalle mandal in Guntur district in the wee hours of Friday. According to locals, it is suspected that the labourers might have been electrocuted while they were asleep. All the deceased workers have been working in the prawn hatchery. On learning about the incident, revenue and police officials rushed to spot and launched a probe. The deceased have been identified as Rammurthy, Kiran, Manoj, Pandabo, Mahendra and Naveen.
According to police, clues team is on the spot collecting forensic evidence and that they had found bleaching powder and other residues at the scene, adding that all possible angles are being investigated. Prima facie, there is nothing suspicious in the incident the police say, adding that they are talking to electricity officials and other department personnel to ascertain the cause of the incident. The owner and manager of the hatchery are being questioned by police, sources said.
