Dantewada: A team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 231st Battalion on Sunday recovered a 5-kg tiffin bomb from the Jagargunda and Dantewada border of Chhattisgarh. The recovery was made on the instructions of Commandant Surendra Singh. A search operation was carried out in the Naxal infested district and the bomb was defused safely without any loss of life or damage to property.
According to security forces, the explosive was planted by insurgents to inflict major damage. Two companies of CRPF 231 Battalion (E and G/231 together with G/165 Battalion) were on a patrol from Kondasanwali Camp to Naga Tekri when they came across the IED. The explosive was immediately deactivated thereby foiling the intentions of Naxals.

Naxalites have been using state-of-the-art weapons during encounters in different areas of the division in the past two years. Confirming this Inspector General of Police in Bastar Range, Sundarraj Pattilingam had said that the most sophisticated weapon used by the insurgents has been Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGL), apart from IEDs.
