Chandigarh: The new cabinet of Punjab has taken the oath of office today in a swearing-in ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh. Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office to 15 new ministers in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
The ministers who took the oath today are Brahm Mohindra, Manpreet Singh Badal, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhbindr Singh Sarkaria, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Aruna Chaudary, Razia Sultana, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Vijay Inder Singla, Randeep Singh Nabha, Raj Kumar Verka, Sangat Singh Gilzian, Pargat Singh, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Gukrirat Singh Kotli.

However, hours before the swearing-in ceremony, six Congress MLAs and one former PCC president in a joint letter to Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, demanded the removal of Rana Gurjeet Singh from the proposed cabinet list due to his involvement in the mining scandal. Despite objections, Rana Gurjeet Singh has taken the oath as a cabinet minister today along with others.
