Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir LG administration has sacked two sons of United Jehad Council chief Syed Salahudin among 11 employees from services on allegations of being involved in anti-national activities and assisting militancy in Kashmir. Out of the 11 employees dismissed, four are from Anantnag, three from Budgam, one each from Baramulla, Srinagar, Pulwama and Kupwara. Out of them, four were working in the Education department, two in Jammu Kashmir Police and one each in Agriculture, Skill Development, Power, SKIMS and Health Departments.
Officials sources said the designated committee constituted by the UT government for scrutinizing and recommending cases under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India, in its second and fourth meeting recommended three and eight cases respectively for their dismissal of these employees from government service. The two sons of UJC chief Syed Salahudin who were sacked include Syed Ahmad Shakeel and Syed Shahid Yousuf. The two police constables sacked today include Abdul Rashid Shigan of Srinagar. Shigan was accused of carrying out attacks on cops in Srinagar in 2012.

Others include an Orderly in the ITI department who is accused of being a militant Over Ground Worker, two teachers, an Orderly of Health Department and an Inspector of the Power Department. Three employees were dismissed in May this year by the administration for the same accusations. Twelve employees were sacked by the PDP-BJP coalition government in 2016 for allegedly participating in protests.
In August 2020, the government said it will terminate 500 employees allegedly involved in anti-national activities. A committee was constituted by the administration headed by the chief secretary and included the home secretary and police chief Dilbagh Singh to examine and recommend the dismissal of employees from their services for partaking in anti-national activities. An order issued in June 2020 by the General Administration Department (GAD) invoked Article 311(2)(c), a special provision of the Constitution of India for the purpose of terminating the services of the employees or reducing their ranks without holding an inquiry but on the basis of relevant records and other collateral evidence. The Article was not applicable to Jammu & Kashmir earlier when it enjoyed the special status granted to it under Article 370 of the Constitution.
