While addressing the issue of sudden deaths in some youths recently, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the they do not have sufficient evidence as of now to confirm their causes. However the department of Health & Family Welfare said that it provides technical and financial support to the States, UTs under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), as part of National Health Mission (NHM), based on the proposals received from the States and UTs and subject to the resource envelope to address the health issues related to cardiovascular disease,.

At least 56,014 medical students died by suicide across the country in the last five years, the Union Health Ministry informed Parliament on Tuesday. As per information provided by Minister of State for Health Satya Pal Singh Baghel in the Rajya Sabha 9,905 medical students died by suicide in 2017, followed by 10,159 in 2018, 10,335 in 2019, 12,526 in 2020 and 13,089 in 2021.
