While addressing the issue of sudden deaths in some youths recently, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the they do not have sufficient evidence as of now to confirm their causes. However the department of Health & Family Welfare said that it provides technical and financial support to the States, UTs under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), as part of National Health Mission (NHM), based on the proposals received from the States and UTs and subject to the resource envelope to address the health issues related to cardiovascular disease,.

There are 13,08,009 allopathic doctors registered with the State Medical Councils and the National Medical Commission (NMC). Assuming 80 percent availability of registered allopathic doctors and 5.65 lakh AYUSH doctors, the doctor-population ratio in the country is 1:834. Further, as per the Indian Nursing Council (INC) records, there are 36.14 lakh registered nursing personnel in the country resulting in a nurse to population ratio of 2.10 nurses per thousand population.

The Union Health Ministry in a recent communication with the State government of all these three States appealed to them to implement the scheme. “Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has recently communicated with the State governments of Delhi, Odisha and West Bengal and appealed to them to implement the scheme,” said Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar while speaking to ETV Bharat on Friday.

At least 56,014 medical students died by suicide across the country in the last five years, the Union Health Ministry informed Parliament on Tuesday. As per information provided by Minister of State for Health Satya Pal Singh Baghel in the Rajya Sabha 9,905 medical students died by suicide in 2017, followed by 10,159 in 2018, 10,335 in 2019, 12,526 in 2020 and 13,089 in 2021.

A total of 21,503 faculty and non-faculty posts are lying vacant in Delhi-based All India Medical Science (AIIMS) and other new AIIMS institutes across the country. Informing this in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar on Tuesday said that in various AIIMS, recruitment of faculty and non-faculty posts is done keeping in view additional services and facilities added in the institute.
