  • Use pavement markings to help guide you
  • Use the left edge of the road as a guide, not the centre line

  • Look and listen for any hazards ahead
  • Minimise distractions in your vehicle including cell phones and music
  • Keep looking ahead as much as possible, avoid distractions
  • Keep your windows and mirrors clean
  • Use your defrost and wipers to maximise your vision
  • If the fog is too dense to continue, pull off the road completely and try to park your vehicle in a safe parking area
  • In addition to keeping your low-beam headlights on, turn on your emergency flashers, parking lights, etc.

Additionally, the Madhya Pradesh police asked to not stop in between the roads. "People should not speed up suddenly, even if the fog seems to be clearing. They should not speed up to overtake a slower vehicle or to get away from a vehicle following too closely," they said.
