Jaipur: A religious gathering in Karni Vihar turned violent on Thursday night when at least ten members associated with the Rashtriya Swayamseval Sangh (RSS) were attacked during a 'Jagran' programme held at a local temple. The incident occurred around the time 'Prasad' was being distributed to devotees in celebration of Sharad Purnima.

According to police, tensions escalated when two local residents objected to the event taking place late at night. An argument ensued, prompting the individuals to call for reinforcements, who then attacked the RSS workers with knives. As a result, then individuals sustained injuries, with six of them requiring hospitalisation at Sawai Mansingh Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Amit Kumar confirmed the details of the attack, stating that the situation had been initially peaceful until the late-night objections sparked a confrontation. "During the altercation, the attackers and their companions launched a sudden assault with knives, injuring several attendees," he said.

Among the injured were Murari Lal, Shankar, Lakhan Singh, Pushpendra, Dinesh, and Ram, who are currently receiving treatment. The police responded promptly, with additional forces deployed to maintain order in the area. DCP Kumar added that two individuals, identified as Naseeb Chaudhary and his son, have been detained, while efforts are longing to apprehend other suspects involved in the attack.

The incident incited anger among local RSS supporters, leading to a temporary blockade of the Delhi-Ajmer National Highway. BJP MLA Gopal Sharma and Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also arrived at the scene to assess the situation and instructed law enforcement to take strict action against the attackers. Residents expressed concern over the violence with police on high alert as investigation continues.
