ECI's Jammu And Kashmir Visit: Here Is The Schedule Of The Central Poll Panel's Visit To The UT

According to the itinerary of the central poll panel's visit to the union territory, the Election Commission Of India led by the chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and his two Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and SS Sandhu will reach Srinagar at 10 AM on Thursday Aug 8 and will interact with six recognised political parties to get their feedback and suggestions about the much delayed assembly elections, reports ETV Bharat's Mir Farhat.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): The Election Commission of India which is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday will meet six recognised political parties for their feedback and suggestions about holding the much-delayed assembly elections in the Union Territory.

As per the detailed schedule of the ECI, the commission led by the chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and his two Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and SS Sandhu will reach Srinagar at 10. am and start meeting the representatives of six political parties of the UT at SKICC at 11. am.

The six recognised which have been invited to the meeting include National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Pradesh Congress Committee, Bharatiya Janata Party, CPI(M) and National Panthers Party.

08/08/2024:

08:00 am - Departure from Delhi

10:00 am- Arrival at Srinagar

11:15 am - Meeting with Recognised state - National Political Parties

02:00 pm - Meeting with DCs/ SPs

07:00 pm - Meeting with CEO/ SPNO/ CPMF Nodal Officer


09/08/2024:

09:00 am - Meeting with CS/ DG

11:40 am - Departure for Jammu

01:00 pm - Meeting with Enforcement Agencies

02.30 pm - Press Conference

04:40 pm - Departure for Delhi.

06:15 pm - Arrival at Delhi.

This visit assumes significance as the Supreme Court deadline of September 30 for holding assembly elections is nearing and opposition political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have been vehemently demanding holding of polls.

The last assembly elections were held in 2014 when PDP and BJP formed the government. But this coalition lasted until June 18, 2018 when BJP withdrew its support to Mehbooba Mufti.

Following the abrogation of Article 370 and division of Jammu and Kashmir into two UTs, JK is under President's rule administered by an LG and his lone advisor.
