New Delhi: Today, August 7, marls the last day to fill the preferences of colleges and courses in the second phase of admission to Bachelors Course in Delhi University (DU). Students who had registered on DU's Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal for admission before the CUET UG result was announced can fill forms latest by 4:59 PM today.

After the CUET UG exam result was released on July 28, DU had given the students an opportunity to fill the preferences in the second phase from August 1. The admission branch also gave an added benefit to those who had not yet registered in the first phase by allowing them to join the first and second phases simultaneously,.

Let us tell you that admissions are underway in 71,000 undergraduate seats based on CUET scores. So far in the second phase, more than 3,00,000 students have filled the college and course preferences for admission in the first list.

Earlier, while registering for the CUET UG exam, about 6,00,000 students had chosen DU as their first choice for admission. The new session, initially set to begin on August 1, was postponed due to a delay in the announcement of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores amidst allegations of irregularities.

Due to this delay, some students were forced to get admitted in private or other government universities and colleges. The academic session for UG courses will end on June 7 next year with the commencement of final exams. The second semester of 2024-2025 UG batch will start from January 27 next year after a winter break of two days.

As per the undergraduate admission schedule released by DU, the first seat allocation list will be released on August 16 at 5 PM following which the second allocation list will be released on August 22. DU Vice Chancellor, Professor Yogesh Singh said that they are channelising all effort to fill as many seats as possible in these two rounds.

"We will consider bringing a third list or conducting a spot round provided seats are empty. If seats remain vacant despite these rounds, we will consider class XII marks and take students on board," Singh said.
