এ দিন প্রথম থ্রোয়ের পর খুশি ছিলেন না নীরজ ৷ তাই জ্যাভলিন ল্যান্ড করার মুহূর্তেই ‘ফোর্স ফাউল’ করেন ভারতীয় অ্যাথলিট ৷ তাই ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে লাইন ক্রস করে যান ৷ ফলে তাঁর 79 মিটারের থ্রো রেজিস্ট্রার হয়নি ৷ এর পর দ্বিতীয়বারে নতুন উদ্যোমে শুরু করেন নীরজ চোপড়া ৷ এবার তাঁর রান-আপ থেকে শুরু করে শরীরি-ভাষা সবতেই আত্মবিশ্বাস দেখা যায় ৷ এমনকি জ্যাভলিন ছোড়ার পরেই শূন্যে দু’হাত তুলে সেলিব্রেশন করতে দেখা যায় তাঁকে ৷ 88.17 মিটার জ্যাভিলন থ্রো করে 1 নম্বরে শেষ করেন নীরজ ৷ আর 87.82 মিটার জ্যাভলিন ছুঁড়ে দ্বিতীয় হয়েছেন পাকিস্তানের আরশাদ নাদিম ৷
