Eight Bogies of Goods Train Derail in Delhi's Zakhira Flyover

A goods train derailed near Delhi's Zakhira Flyover. The incident occurred at around 11.52 am on Saturday. On receiving the information, railway and fire department officials reached the spot and launched the rescue operation.

New Delhi:At least eight bogies of a goods train derailed near Zakhira Flyover in Delhi on Saturday. Teams of railway officials, the Delhi police and the Delhi Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot for the rescue operation. “At least eight bogies of the goods train derailed near Zakhira. Our team has reached the spot and a rescue operation is underway,” Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Deepak Kumar told ETV Bharat.

According to the Delhi police, they received information at around 11:52 am regarding the derailment of a train near Zakhira flyover in Delhi. A team rushed to the site and started the rescue operation. "Teams of railway, fire brigade and police reached the incident site and launched the search operation to confirm whether anyone was trapped under the derailed bogies or not," a senior Delhi police officer said.

A purported video of a derailed goods train shows that several bogies have turned down on the railway track and iron sheet rolls lying scattered near the track. The police said the goods train was on its way from Bombay to Chandigarh. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) department officials said that they received a call regarding the derailment of the train. Responding to the call, DFS sent a rescue team to the spot.
