Three Suspects Arrested Following Kidnapping of Two Young Siblings; Children Safely Recovered

Two children were kidnapped but were safely recovered. Three suspects were arrested who aimed to extort over Rs 1 crore from their businessman father.

Belagavi: Police have successfully rescued two children, a four-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy, who were allegedly kidnapped from their home in a district headquarters town. The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, was captured on CCTV footage showing two men entering the residence and fleeing with the children.

At the time of the kidnapping, only the children's grandmother was present in the house. The suspects grabbed the children as they played in the living room, after returning from school. A third accomplice was positioned nearby, waiting in a vehicle to facilitate their escape.

Authorities acted swiftly, utilising CCTV footage and technical surveillance to track the suspects' route. They promptly alerted the police in a neighbouring district. the vehicle carrying the abductors was intercepted in the early hours of Friday near Kohalli in Belagavi district, around 4,25 AM.

Both children were found unharmed and have since been returned to their parents. The three suspects involved in the Kidnapping were arrested on the spot.

During interrogation, one of the suspects revealed a motive for the crime, stating he had invested in the businessman's trading platform but suffered significant losses. After requesting over Rs 1 crore from the businessman and receiving no response, he resorted to kidnapping the children as a means of leverage.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case and further details about the suspects and their background are expected to emerge as the police probe continues.
