Bijapur: At a time when security forces are moving forward with full force to achieve government's target of eliminating Naxals from the country by 2026, Maoists are responding with more violence and bloodshed to maintain their forced dominance in the interior pockets. Monday night, Naxalites killed two villagers of Budgicheru in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district by slitting their throats with sharp-edged weapons, police said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chandrakant Gavarna stated that the attack took place late at night. "Unidentified Maoists slit the throat of two persons, Karam Raju (32) from Talabapara, and Madvi Munna (27) from Nayapara in Budgicheru. Both of them died on the spot. Immediately after receiving information, the Tarrem police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation."
On January 26, Naxalites had killed a 41-year-old man from Keshamundi in Bastar region on suspicion of being a police informer. A pamphlet of the Maoist organisation Bhairamgarh Area Committee was also found at the spot, in which the Naxalites claimed that they killed him for leaking information to the police. Prior to that, a 48-year-old man was killed by Maoists in Mirtur area of Bijapur.
