Firozabad:Five people including a child died and 24 others got injured after a bus carrying pilgrims from Gujarat crashed on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near the Nasirpur Police Station area this morning. The incident occurred after the four-wheeler collided with a parked trolley while on its way from Ayodhya to Mathura Vrindavan.
The deceased have been identified as Mahadev (42), Sandeep (23) and Vitara (45), all residents of Lucknow, Kajal and Pappu, police said. Four passengers died on the spot and one died in the hospital. The driver of the tempo traveller driver had dinner at a dhaba and consumed alcohol with it. As a result, he was drowsy while driving, police said.
Those injured have been admitted to hospitals in Saifai and Shikohabad. The victims of the accident are said to be residents of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Gujarat. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Akhilesh Bhadauria said that the accident took place this morning on the borders of Firozabad district.
