New Delhi:One of the key constituencies in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, the Patel Nagar (SC) seat saw AAP registering a close win as its candidate Pravesh Ratn managed to defeat BJP's Raaj Kumar Anand by a margin of 4000 votes.
Ratn polled 57512 votes, defeating Anand by 4049 votes who managed to get 53463. Congress' Krishna Tirath, a former Union Minister, was at a distant third, with only 4654 votes under his name.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which won the seat in the 2020 and 2015 Assembly polls, thus managed to score a hat trick from Patel Nagar even though it lost the elections to BJP.
"Thank you Patel Nagar! The people of Patel Nagar Vidhan Sabha have showered me with immense love, support, and blessings, leading to my historic victory in the 2025 assembly elections. I am deeply grateful and indebted for this. This victory is not just mine; it is the victory of the people, it is the victory of dedicated workers," Ratn said in a post on X.
The BJP managed to come out with flying colours, winning 48 seats in Delhi Assembly Elections while AAP could only manage 22 wins in the 70-member assembly. The saffron party is set to form government in Delhi after more than 26 years.
