Activists Attack Mangaluru Parlour Claiming 'Immoral Activities'; 14 Held

Karnataka Police is probing the matter and a case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered.

Mangaluru:The Karnataka Police have arrested 14 people, including 14 Rama Sena activists and a cameraman of a local channel, in connection with the alleged attack on Colors Unisex Salon in Bejai in the city and the destruction of glass and furniture.

Local channel cameraman Sharan Raj, Rama Sena founder Prasad Attavar, activists Harsharaj of Farangipet, Mohan Das of Vamanjoor, Purandara of Kasaragod, Sachin, Ravish of Vamanjoor, Suket of Benjanapada, Ankit of Vamanjoor, Kali Mattu, Abhilash of Bondantila, Deepak of Vamanjoor, Vignesh of Neermarg and Pradeep Poojary of Vamanjoor have been arrested, the police said.

On Thursday, at around 11:50 am, a group of 11 people barged into Colors unisex salon located in Aditya Complex near Bejai under Barke police station limits in Mangaluru city and committed arson. They verbally abused the female staff and threatened their lives, alleging that immoral activities were taking place in the salon. Not only that, they also vandalised the salon equipment and assaulted the employees, the police said.

Based on the complaint filed by the salon owner, a case was registered at Barke police station under sections 329(2), 324(5), 74, 351(3), 115(2), 109, 352, and 190 of the IPC, the police added.

The organisation alleged that illegal activities were being carried out at the massage centre. Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal said, "Today at around 11:51 am, a group of unknown persons, consisting of nine to ten individuals, illegally entered the Colors Unisex Salon near Aditya Complex in Bejai."

"It caused damage to the property, and the group allegedly accused the Salon staff of immoral activities, abused them, and threatened to harm them further," the top police official added.

"Two staff members were also assaulted during the incident. One of the intruders was seen recording the incident on camera," the Mangaluru Police Commissioner added. "An investigation is underway," the Commissioner confirmed.
