New York: Riding on the Rohit Sharma s half-century, Indian team chased a total of 97 in a span of 12.2 overs in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Rishabh Pant also played a handy knock of unbeaten 36 runs to help the team secure a victory over Ireland and the left-handed batter will take some confidence from his performance. After electing to field first, the Indian bowlers capitalised on the conditions and wrapped up the Ireland innings on a total of 96 in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2024. Hardik Pandya picked three wickets roaring to form after an average campaign in the IPL 2024 while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh chipped in with two wickets each.
