Dharmashala: Ravichandran Ashwin scripted a memorable record with his prolific spell on the third day of the fifth Test between India and England becoming the Indian bowler with the most five-wicket hauls in Test cricket (36) surpassing Anil Kumble.
Apart from being the leading bowler in terms of five-wicket hauls, Ashwin also became the joint-leader along with Muttiah Muralitharan in the list of the bowlers taking the most wickets in their 100th Test match.
Ashwin was on fire since the start of the proceedings when England walked into bat on the third day in their second innings. He orchestrated the collapse of the English top order getting rid of prized scalps like Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope and Ben Stokes. The Indian off-spinner achieved the feat in the 27th over of the innings as he dismissed Ben Foakes on the fourth delivery. Ashwin tossed up the delivery outside the off stump and the wicketkeeper batter attempted a slog sweep.
